Tonatiuh
The Fifth Sun
The present sun, east, the day's heat
Tonatiuh is Nanahuatzin after the fire — the poor god who jumped when the proud one delayed. His face is the center of the Sun Stone, tongue a flint knife, the four previous worlds arrayed around him. He travels by day and needs movement, Ollin, to stay in the sky. The eagle is his bird. The Mexica said the Fifth Sun would end by earthquake. Until then he is the light you are standing in.
