Feathered Serpent

Quetzalcoatl is older than the Mexica. At Teotihuacan his temple already stood. He is wind (Ehecatl), the planet Venus, and the priest-king of Tollan in later legend. He went to Mictlan for the bones of a previous humanity, ground them, and mixed them with his own blood so people could live again. Among the Yucatec Maya he is Kukulkan; among the K'iche' he is Q'uq'umatz, the plumed serpent of the Popol Vuh.
